Welcome to Touch of Bengal!

Ever since Shanti at Katarina Bangata opened its doors 19 years ago, we have focused on giving our guests an authentic Indian dining experience. Something that few, however, know is that 90 percent of all Indian restaurants are owned by Bengalis. Few dare to say they run a Bengali restaurant.

Shanti wants to change that. In India the latest fashion is to eat Bengali food. Stockholm will finally have a restaurant that serves both Bengali and Indian cuisine with a Bengali atmosphere. Södermalm’s cozy spot!

The restaurant that has emerged from Shanti at Katarina Bangata. Soft Corner is New York-inspired with authentic food from the Indian cuisine. The menu is familiar to the one found at Shanti Classic but more faithful to the Indian kitchen.

We also have specialties from different Indian regions, such as Bengal, Punjab and Gujarat. We prepare our dishes in a traditional way, which also means that they contain less fat. Our ambition is to serve authentic Indian food without a “swedification”. Welcome to an Indian flavor trip.

Our first restaurant!

In 2000 we opened the doors for Shanti Classic at Katarina Bangata.

Here you get to taste some more of India than the "normal, classic" Indian food served in Stockholm.
